Reflections

I recently chanced upon videos by Mimi Ikonn and I feel really inspired by her heart to heart talk videos. I remembered watching "Change your look, change your life" and from there I began to watch her other talking videos.

I am glad that I came across her videos because I was feeling kinda down perhaps because I feel that I am not doing anything useful to my life right now. I quitted my job and initially it feels good because I have the time to myself to do my own things. But slowly, I just started to feel crappy and couldnt keep myself motivated to do things. I know something is not right and I know I have to do something about it.

I know that this cannot go on and so I thought to myself that I will wake up everyday to dress well and even if I am not going anywhere fancy. Previously because most of the time I am at home, I take no effort in dressing up and I think somewhat or other I feel lousy and I totally just waste my day rotting at home. This is really bad. I know this is a common habit among people where by we only dress up for work (I actually know of people who dont even dress up for work!),special occasions or parties etc.To most people, dressing up takes too much effort and time but hey if you put in the effort to dressing up yourself, you'll feel great thereafter and this is what makes you different.

I know alot of people (including me) like to give excuses that they do not have the time but I have come to realise that everyone of us are given 24 hours a day and how we make use of it is really up to the individual. If you love and respect yourself, you will find and squeeze in the time to make yourself look/appear good. To me, there is no such thing as you dont have the time, you just learn to prioritise different things.

Appearance is 50% about your grooming and another 50% about your outfits. And do you know that appearance talk? It says alot about you to yourself and also about you to other people. Whether you like it or not, people judge by your first appearance be it conciously or subconciously. Lets face it, thats just the reality we live in.There is absolutely nothing wrong to be in your natural state but every choice comes with a consequence. There is no right or wrong but I've come to an agreement with myself that this is the game of life & we have to learn to play with it. And one very important thing, other people respect you in direct proportion of how much you respect yourself. And how much you respect yourself shows in your appearance. And by saying appearance Im not refering to wearing pretty and expensive clothing. I am refering to your personal grooming, eating well because thats how you show respect to your body and staying physically active etc. Everything you do to create that appearance actually tell people how much you love and respect yourself. So, if you want people to respect you, you have to respect yourself by taking care of your appearance, by eating well, working out etc. Believe it or not, the first impression actually happens within first 10 seconds. And people (including me) make mental judgement about a person within that short period of time.

Basically at the end of the day, learn to love yourself and your body.

Okay, till then.
